A continuation in the series of works with and about the affective clones A Performing Site For Affective Clones.
How can spaces of queer intimacy and zones where the impalpable and palpable meet be shaped by film? Displacing them from their neoliberal fixture by imagining queer spaces as hazy fragmented enviornments generated by machine learning algorythms, the film ‘Boys Who Are Not’ (working tittle) takes a critical stand in regards to gay pragmatism and the pink market phenomena. Settling in these unstable exteriors and unhomely interiors are a group of affective clones – kitschy 3D digital figures in different stages of rendering. Disturbing the normalized perception of the digital as the virtual by coming in contact with their palpable alters in a series of events loosely based on motives from Samuel R Delany’s SF novel Stars In My Pocket Like Grains of Sand.
As of July 2019, the project was workshopped and developed through Galerija Greta (Zagreb) Beton Kino (MKC, Split on invitation by QueerANarchive) and Pogon Jedinstvo (Zagreb). The project is a recipient of the HAVC-Croatian Audiovisual Center Grant for an experimental film production in 2020.
